Revision of the Consumer Tendency Survey due to new supplier
The National Institute of Economic Research has appointed a new supplier for the Consumer Tendency Survey. CMA Research won the procurement process and will conduct the survey up to and including 2014. The change of supplier entails retrospective revision of the Consumer Tendency Survey.
The previous supplier, GfK Sverige, produced the Consumer Tendency Survey between 2002 and 2009. In order to compare both suppliers and ensure continuity, the National Institute of Economic Research engaged both GfK and CMA to conduct parallel surveys during the period October to December 2009. Methodological comparability has consequently been achieved for the past three months.Differences in the results of the suppliers
The differences are small in the case of the Consumer Confidence Indicator, the Micro Indicator and the Macro Indicator. However, there are more appreciable differences for certain individual questions, such as car purchases and perceived inflation. The differences for all questions are illustrated diagrammatically.
Revision of the Consumer Tendency Survey
The figures in the Consumer Tendency Survey will be revised for the period October to December 2009. As a result, time series up to and including September 2009 will be identical to those previously published. The old figures will then be replaced by the new supplier´s results. However, the old values for October to December 2009 will still be available on the National Institute of Economic Research´s website. The above changes in the database will be implemented in connection with the publication of the Economic Tendency Survey on Thursday, 28 January.
